Today's Devereaux Nuggets

December 22 ~

On this day in 1937 the Lincoln Tunnel, connecting Manhattan and New Jersey, opened. Initially designed for two tubes, one opened in 1937; the second tube was delayed by World War II. In 1957 a third tube was added. The tunnel is one of the busiest vehicular tunnels in the world, carrying about 120,000 vehicles each day. Learn more about the Lincoln Tunnel @ your library.
