What's a QR code?

A QR (quick response) code is similar to a barcode. It contains info that can be read by smart phones with cameras, a QR reader app, and web capabilities. Embedded in these codes are web addresses, coupons, messages, or special offers. You can find a list of QR code readers to download to your mobile device (iPhone, iPod Touch, Android, and more) at http://www.mobile-barcodes.com/qr-code-software/ . How is the Devereaux Library using QR codes? You can find QR codes all around the library, linking you to Interlibrary Loan resources, the New Bestsellers blog, and lots more! Simply scan the codes with your mobile device and you will have instant access to these services.

Welcome back to campus

What a busy summer it’s been here at the {salt} Mines. There is so much to tell you. Deep breath: We’ve been digitizing everything we can lay our hands on. 100 years ago (July 1, 1911) Professor C.C. O'Harra assumed the post of President of the South Dakota State School of Mines. Professor O'Harra came to campus July 1, 1896, as a professor of geology. He continued to lead the campus until his death in 1935. We've added a bunch of new books , documents, and media to the collection; and are adding a large donation of audio CDs. We have lots of resources available online. Remember, you can use VPN to access electronic resources Want something from the library, but don’t have time to come by? Devereaux delivers . (yes, really delivers!) Looking for journals? Try EBSCO A-Z to locate both print and electronic titles. Looking for new books? Subscribe to the library’s new book blog Want more library news?
