Parking lot closed Dec 3

On Sunday Dec 3 the parking lot between Surbeck Center and Devereaux Library will close at noon because of the Diwali Celebration fireworks Sunday evening. Please have all vehicles removed to prevent damage and make it safe for the workers setting off the fireworks. Please come and enjoy this Festival of Lights put on by the India Club on campus. Parking for Library users is available in the MI and Chem lots. As this is a weekend they are available to anyone using the library. Additional Help Desk Hours

In order to better serve our student customers, the Help Desk will be open December 3rd, 5-10pm and December 10th, 5-10 pm. If that is not true please let me know immediately. Both databases are on campus use only at this time. Special software needs to be loaded onto your computer for SciFinder, this software is available at the circulation desk of the library.

A message from ITS

Folks~ The ITS Help Desk and Faculty Help Desk has been moved from EP 140 to the much more convenient location in the basement of the Library. The Desk is located between the computer lab and the Tablet Shop. This location will serve the IT needs of the entire SDSM&T computing community. Currently, hours of operation are 7:30 am - 7:00pm M-Th and 7:30am- 5pm on Fridays. Hours may soon change based on the needs of our customers. Phone numbers are 394-1234 and 394-1294. News from the South Dakota State Library

South Dakota citizens will have access November 1, 2006 to two South Dakota newspapers, online reference books, and practice tests through three new databases provided by the South Dakota State Library for statewide access. “These new resources are a part of the new mission of the State Library and represent an important piece of the State Li brary’s support of library services on the local level,” said Dorothy Liegl, Stat e Librarian. The new databases are: American Newspapers —Aberdeen American News and the Sioux Falls Argus Leader. Citizens can browse current and archived news articles, editorials, reviews, birth and marriage announcements, obituaries and a variety of special sections. It will be useful for general reference or to research local and national issues, events, people, government, education, arts, business, sorts, real estate and much more.
