More than a year after his death, the remains of Lt. Col. George Armstrong Custer are buried at West Point in New York on this day in 1877.


In 1972 The Washington Post prints articles by reporters Carl Bernstein and Bob Woodward that uncover a massive effort to disrupt the Democratic campaign, activities that will soon become known as “Watergate.” The duo’s activities and findings will be immortalized in the 1976 film, All the President's Men.
