South Dakota School of Mines: July 13, 1943

School of Mines invited to participate in the Army Specialized Training Program. [Twenty-Eighth Biennial Report of the Regents of Education of the State of South Dakota to the Governor for the Biennial Period Ending June 30, 1944, Fiscal Years 1942-43 and 1943-44, Transmitted to the Legislature at the Twenty-Ninth Biennial Session, 1945. pg. 98]


July 13 - first non-commissioned officers who were part of the headquarter's staff arrived on campus. Over the next two-three days 275 trainees sent to campus to complete ASTP training, all training completely financed by the federal government. Eventually a total number 439 trainees received on campus.
