South Dakota School of Mines: July 13, 1943

School of Mines invited to participate in the Army Specialized Training Program. July 13 - first non-commissioned officers who were part of the headquarter's staff arrived on campus. Over the next two-three days 275 trainees sent to campus to complete ASTP training, all training completely financed by the federal government. Eventually a total number 439 trainees received on campus.
