South Dakota School of Mines - 1962 & 1973

1962. Metallurgy building demolished.

1973 Prep building demolished.

March 27, 1973 - Ceremony attended by 350 people. Prep building cornerstone opened, it contains such prominent items as the bill setting forth the establishment of The School of Mines, copies of the Rapid City Republican and The Black Hills Weekly Journal, a small bar of tin from the Etta Mine at Keystone, and a small lump of coal from Buffalo Gap. Also contained in the Box are various advertisements and an assortment of coins (contents in Devereaux Library Archives) [The Engineer, 1973, pg. 99]
