South Dakota School of Mines: July 1, 1943

July 1 - The school is now operating under the official name "South Dakota School of Mines and Technology". Dakota School of Mines:June 12, 1885

June 12 - Gilbert Bailey lends a collection of more 5,000 fossil and mineral specimens, providing the foundation of the future Museum of Geology (third floor of new building will be fitted for display of the collections - Bailey shipped cabinets for school that fall.)
